Publications Webpage Committee PDF Print E-mail
The Publications Webpage Committee is an ad-hoc committee whose purpose is to design the CTA publications webpage and locate content for Texas' archaeological community.
Academic Archaeology and CRM PDF Print E-mail
The Academic Archaeology and CRM Committee promotes and facilitates communication between the academic community, including university faculty and students, and cultural resource management (CRM) companies.
Communications Committee PDF Print E-mail
The Communications Committee consists of three or more members, appointed by the
President with the assistance and approval of the elected officers. This Committee works with
the Executive Committee to oversee the Council’s internet domains and/or electronic discussion lists and internet partnerships. It also assists the chairs of other committees to update their information on the Council’s website.

Survey Standards Committee PDF Print E-mail

The CTA Survey Standards Committee was formed to revise the Archeological Survey Standards for Texas. This task has been completed, the standards have been adopted by the Texas Historical Commission. A copy of the revised standards is available at http://www.thc.state.tx.us/rulesregs/rrother.html.

Nominating Committee PDF Print E-mail

At the regular Fall Meeting, a Nominating Committee of five persons was chosen. The Chairman of the Committee was appointed by the President. Four or more additional nominations were made from the floor for the remaining positions, and those four receiving the highest number of votes were elected. It is the duty of the Nominating Committee to nominate candidates for the offices to be filled at the regular Spring Meeting. This Committee also confers with all persons nominated in order to determine their willingness to serve if elected. As presented in the bylaws, no private organization or a separately budgeted branch of government or educational institution may be represented by more than one person on the Nominating Committee.

Public Education Committee PDF Print E-mail

The Public Education Committee consists of six or more members, appointed by the President with the assistance and approval of the elected officers. The Chair is elected by the Committee. This Committee is responsible for the CTA Speakers Bureau and CTA participation in Archeology Awareness Month. In addition, the Committee reviews nominations and selects the the recipient for the annual E. Mott Davis Award. The Chair is David O. Brown.

Auditing Committee PDF Print E-mail

The Auditing Committee consists of three members, appointed by the President with the assistance and approval of the elected officers. The Auditing Committee conducts an audit of the records of the Council maintained by the Secretary-Treasurer at the end of each fiscal year. The Committee reports its findings at the following CTA meeting. The Chair is Mark Denton.

Curation Committee PDF Print E-mail
Archeological sites are unique, destructible, and nonrenewable resources. The mode of investigation often results in the partial or total destruction of archeological sites. Once investigation has been completed, the only archeological remains of a site or portions thereof may be those material collections (i.e., artifacts) and/or records collections produced by the investigation. These become the data sources, both present and future. Accordingly, systematic documentation, cleaning, labeling, inventorying, use, and permanent disposition or Curation of these collections in an Archeological Repository should be of utmost concern and consideration to all members of the archeological community.

Governmental Affairs Committee PDF Print E-mail
The Governmental Affairs Committee monitors official agreements, actions and legislation at the local, state, and federal levels, as they affect archeological practice in Texas. Multicultural Relations Committee PDF Print E-mail
This committee's goal is to foster positive working relationships between archeologists and all ethnic groups whose cultures we study. To this end we will target minority students for recruitment, sponsor research projects, and provide speakers for high school and college presentations.
